Construction of High Voltage Capacitors
The Capacitors are connected where application & profile are non linear also the system gives some wrong results. So it is important that to take attention at time of its design process. So SHARDA use high quality imported and indian raw material.
 
We use material as given below
 
1) Dielectric Polypropylene film with electrically graded of double side hazy biaxially.
 
 
• Housing—Stainless steel.
• Insulation- Press phan paper.
• Bushing – Porcelain material.
• Impregnation —By PXE oil, Jerry lac Oil.
• Electrode – Copper Wire.
• Finish – By painting of standard Epoxy Paint.
 
Fusing Of High Voltage Capacitors
Fuses are important part of High Voltage Capacitors. to protect the effect of unit dielectric failure. High Voltage Capacitors fusing is achieved by either internal or external fusing system.

The tin or copper element fuse link of element must be capable of withstanding the transient inrush current by capacitors at switching in without deterioration and it must also operate positively when an element suffer dielectric break down.
 
Advantage of Internal Fusing
1. The Capacitor unit will continue in service even if the one element fails.
2. No external fusing is required per unit so that space is saved and capacitor costing is reduced.
 
Disadvantage of Internal Fusing
1. Internal fusing does not provide protection for major insulation such as fault between element pack and container
2. Capacitor unbalanced protection is required.

Capacitor unit with external fuses are not subjected to any element pack design restriction for higher voltages. It is important feature is that current limiting HRC fuse normally is assigned to withstand the high frequency switching transient characteristic of capacitors.
 
Nomogram

Several method of calculation of capacitor rating are available the graph given here- Nomogramfor determining the capacitor KVAr required for the improvement of power factor.

E.g. For a 100 Kw load if initial Power factor 0.65 have to improve up to 0.85 a multiplying factor can be found by a marking a line between a original power factor & required power factor. In this graph the multiplying factor is seen to be 0.55 then

Capacitor Kvar = 100Kw x 0.55 = 55 Kvar
